Eric Yao
Entrepreneur at heart
Managing Partner of Paul Hype Page & Co. |
Eric started his career in Deloitte as an Auditor and moved into various accounting roles through the years. In 2005, Eric moved to China for work, and it gave him good exposure in the industry beyond the ASEAN context. The time spent in China groomed him to be an independent and experienced auditor, broadening his perspective along the way.
After leaving his last role at PricewaterHouseCoopers Singapore, Eric took the opportunity to travel to Australia to recharge, and that experience fueled his entrepreneurial spirit. He took on odd jobs in Australia, and even drove for a community hospital!
An entrepreneur at heart, he saw opportunities as an expatriate in the country that he could tap on and brought back his experience to Singapore to start a few businesses. His passion for entrepreneurship spurred him to learn various skills such as IT development, where he eventually created 2 apps for the property and insurance market, even when app development was still a fresh concept.
Although the applications did not generate much success, he relentlessly continued to find new opportunities and that was when Paul Hype Page & Co. was born. What sparked the idea of setting up an accounting firm was to help expatriates to come in Singapore to start their own company. Eric saw a distinctive gap in the market for China clients coming to Singapore, and since then, the company grew to what it is today.
Today, Paul Hype Page & Co. serves in 4 locations – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, with partner offices around the world. As the industry begins to digitalise itself, Eric has launched their patented software, www.tantoo.io, to automate operations. Through his entrepreneurial spirit and conviction to succeed, Paul Hype Page & Co. continues to grow and digitalise itself for the next century and beyond.
